What exactly is the Cellfield Reading Program?

Cellfield is a structured, neuroscience-based reading intervention designed for children who are struggling to learn to read, spell or keep up with classroom literacy demands. It targets the underlying cognitive skills needed for reading — such as processing speed, working memory, attention, auditory processing and visual tracking — alongside structured reading instruction. Rather than teaching reading strategies alone, Cellfield works on how the brain processes information, which supports long-term improvement.

Who is the programme suitable for?

Cellfield is designed for children who are bright and capable but are not yet reading, spelling, or writing at the level expected for their age. This includes those with dyslexia, ADHD-related profiles, language-based learning difficulties, slower processing speed, or working memory challenges. It is also well suited to children who have previously received additional reading support but have not made the progress expected.

How long is the programme and how often are sessions?

The core Cellfield programme typically runs for 2-3 weeks, with a total of 10 sessions and 2 assessments. Each session lasts about 50–60 minutes, followed by 12 follow-up support sessions once a week. Consistency is very important — the programme is designed to build skills cumulatively, so regular attendance has a significant impact on outcomes.

When will we start seeing results?

Many parents notice early changes within the first few weeks, such as improved focus, greater confidence, or a stronger willingness to engage with reading tasks. Measurable gains in reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension typically become more evident as the programme progresses. Because Cellfield strengthens foundational skills, improvements are usually steady and lasting rather than quick but short-lived.

How is Cellfield different from extra reading lessons or tutoring?

Traditional tutoring tends to focus on what to read, phonics, comprehension strategies, and practice. Cellfield takes a deeper approach by strengthening the cognitive foundations that make reading possible. When these underlying skills are weak, progress through tutoring alone is often slow or uneven. By developing areas such as processing speed, attention, and working memory, children are better equipped to benefit from both classroom teaching and any additional literacy support.
